What to eat before you hit BEATCAMP™…

“An Army marches on a full stomach” – Napoleon Bonaparte
Some of you may have already found that starting out a workout without any food can be a problem. Always make sure that you are well hydrated and eat a balanced meal the evening before. This ensures that you go to bed on a full stomach – giving your body a chance to recover from previous activities and giving you energy for the early morning fun and games.
While for many of you it is hard to eat before the workout, it really will make a difference, giving you the ability to handle anything the Staff Instructors dish out – well almost anything!! You’ll need to decide what you want to eat beforehand and get up early enough to do it before you leave. It doesn’t take too much time to cut up some fruit and mix it with yoghurt for a great high energy meal. Alternatively you can try making a banana shake, eating a bran muffin or perhaps a bagel with cream cheese. Dried fruit and nuts make an excellent source of energy if you just need something small.

Here’s some examples of what your Staff Instructors eat before making you roll around in mud:

  • A banana, yoghurt, toast and anything ending in ‘chino!’
  • Protein shake and an apple
  • An omelette and a piece of toast, small glass of juice
  • A small bowl of Mother Hubbard’s cereal, piece of fruit, glass of water

Remember – your goal is to increase your physical fitness and get great results; give your body it’s best chance by starting your day with breakfast.

Testimonials from previous Les Mills BOOTCAMP® events

“Les Mills BOOTCAMP® reminded me that I could get up early, I could run and that I could push myself. The result was a positive difference in my health, body shape and frame of mind.  The group training made it more worthwhile and added some fun aspects to exercise that you don’t normally experience when working out.” Amy Bennison – G2
